The DR are a family of deranged criminals and psychopaths. They enjoy killing, raping, torturing and sometimes eating others for their own amusement, specially tourists that have lost their way and have wandered into their town. They are responsible for countless homicides and disappearances but have somehow managed to keep it hidden from the law.

She won that year out of default. She chain smokes and is obsessed with her former glory as a beauty queen. She keeps reliving it by constantly watching home videos of it on her VCR. She is completely delusional about her looks and goes to extreme measures to keep looking young. She has married only once since she left the pageant life but is the proud mother of 8 children by different men. The youngest are the twins, Daryl and Merle. No one knows who the real father is.
